简介：哈佩雕 　　【拉丁名】 Harpia harpyja 　　【英文名】harpy eagle 　　【别名】角雕 　　【分布】栖息于中、南美洲的热带低地，即从墨西哥东南部到阿根廷北部的原始热带雨林中。 　　【物种介绍】哈佩雕并不是真正意义上的“雕”，而是介于雕与鵟之间的种类。 　　“哈佩”一词源自古希腊神话，原指一种半人半鸟的妖怪，早期到达美洲的西方探险家因见它的威猛彪悍而为它取了这个名字。后来的鸟类学家称之为“空中美洲豹”和“鸟类中的大白鲨”。 　　成年哈佩雕身长可达1.05米，体重可达9公斤，浑圆宽阔的双翅翼展可达2-2.5米。哈佩雕的脚趾伸展开来有23厘米长，甚至有报导说，光其爪部就有12.5厘米长。 　　哈佩雕有敏锐的目光和非凡的捕猎能力。在近50米的空中哈佩雕能清晰的看见地面上一只蚂蚁，追逐猎物时时速可高达80公里。哈佩雕的猎物约有19种，以树栖哺乳类居多，尤其喜欢捕食蛛猴和吼猴，此外还有树懒、食蚁兽、长吻浣熊、负鼠等等。 　　哈佩雕每两到三年才交配一次，5月中旬到6月初筑巢，巢建在离地约40米高的树上。6月中下旬产卵，孵化期约56天。雌雕通常只产一枚卵，即使偶尔生下双胞胎，也只要先出壳的那一只，所以生产率很低。哈佩雕以家庭为单位生活，繁殖期间雄雕外出捕食,提供给雌雕和雏雕。幼雕在父母的领地生活至少一年。哈佩雕的寿命估计约30年。 　　如同大熊猫一样，哈佩雕是极其珍贵的濒危动物。哈佩雕濒临灭绝的主要原因是热带雨林遭受破坏，哈佩雕的栖息和狩猎地日趋缩小，以及严重的非法偷猎行为。中美洲不少哈佩雕产地国家纷纷采取措施，或划定保护区，或建立专项保护基金，或开展哈佩雕人工繁育的科学研究，以保护这一珍惜鸟类，中美洲的巴拿马更把哈佩雕定为国鸟加以保护。 　　Information 　　The harpy eagle is the most powerful bird of prey in the world, plucking monkeys from the branches of the jungle canopy.
