阿梅正在给霍绍昌上香烧纸，被忽然爬上窗的霍啸林吓了一跳。霍啸林告诉阿梅，杀霍绍昌的不是土匪，正是赵金虎，并自比荆轲，壮士一去兮不复还，把象征自己生命的镯子交给阿梅后，不理会阿梅的劝阻，便一人离开了。意图翻墙进赵家的霍啸林碰见叫花子小六，小六帮着霍啸林翻墙进了赵家，霍啸林称若是能活着出赵家，便收了小六做兄弟。潜入赵金虎屋中的霍啸林被赵金虎抓了个正着，懦弱无能的霍啸林被赵金虎抽了几耳光后押了下去。侯学问令士兵把霍啸林摁入水中，意图溺死霍啸林，被赵舒城冲出来阻止了。赵舒城恳求赵金虎放过霍啸林，赵金虎拒绝，赵舒城就以死相逼，赵金虎只好放霍啸林离开。赵舒城令人备了匹快马，霍啸林骑上快马来到霍绍昌的墓前，向霍绍昌发誓一定会替他报仇。赵金虎向赵舒城承认了是自己假扮土匪杀光了霍家，赵舒城悲愤痛哭，大喊赵金虎不是人。霍啸林回到天目山，求郑乾坤下山杀掉赵金虎为霍绍昌报仇，郑乾坤没有同意。樱桃告诉霍啸林，霍绍昌让他们去热河安家，还给了她一些银票。霍啸林让樱桃把霍绍昌给她的银票交出来，霍啸林要带钱去请人杀了赵金虎，樱桃不同意，霍啸林便抢走了银票。霍啸林带着银票来找杀手，道清缘由后，杀手脸色一变，杀手竟是李教头的同伙，杀手叫出了李教头，李教头抓住了霍啸林。李教头压着霍啸林去给赵金虎讨赏，半路被郑乾坤救下。霍啸林谢过郑乾坤的救命之恩，并得知了郑乾坤一路派人跟着他，感动不已。郑乾坤带着霍啸林回到天目山，霍啸林拜郑乾坤为师，郑乾坤称愿把毕生武功教给霍啸林。霍啸林想四天之内学会所有武功，四天之后是霍绍昌的头七和阿梅与赵金虎的大婚之日。郑乾坤称四天之内，只能教霍啸林送死的本事，霍啸林也要试一试。
