随着新尸体的发现，李秀一(袁文康 饰)知道显然是林昌嗣(王茂蕾 饰)说了谎，他所杀的只是一个胡人乐师沙安答，并不是康连城(傅隽 饰)。庾瓒(林子聪 饰)和戴尔斯(勃小龙 饰)以及李秀一等决定去金吾卫提审林昌嗣，重新整理案情。独孤却不愿与他们同去，他表示自己累了，便让翘翘(张玉洁 饰)扶着自己回房间休息。林昌嗣跪在金吾卫殿下，庾瓒说出人头根本不是康连城的，问林昌嗣为何要说谎。林昌嗣面不改色，顺着庾瓒的话将沙安答的死也揽在了自己头上，他说自己是在杀了康连城之后，躲在竹店中想等坊门开，好及时逃回家中。后来恰巧遇见了路过的沙安答，就杀了他。他话音刚落，就被李秀一给找到了漏洞，原来沙安答那天根本不可能出现在林昌嗣所说的地方，因为据李秀一调查，沙安答在前一天去了另一个地方演出，直到第二天中午才回城。见谎话被戳穿，林昌嗣赶紧又重新坦白，称自己是因为欠了沙安答的钱还不起，所以便杀了他。但当李秀一问道康连城的人头被他扔在哪里时，林昌嗣只说是被自己扔到了城外郊区，却说不出具体在哪处。他不愿再多说，只是告诉庾瓒，自己愿意画押认罪。庾瓒见他愿意承认这两笔杀人案是自己所为，便打算让他画押，但戴尔斯却坚持，只要康连城的人头还没找到，就不可以结案。韦若昭(秋瓷炫 饰)和李秀一都看出了林昌嗣是在替人掩护，而值得他掩护的，就只有翘翘。为了试探出翘翘，韦若昭想到了一个办法。她将翘翘带到大牢中，让她与林昌嗣见最后一面。林昌嗣见到翘翘来见自己，激动地表明自己对她的爱意，还说自己不求回报。但翘翘对于林昌嗣的情意丝毫不为所动，她的绝情让在一旁偷听的韦若昭感到怀疑。在韦若昭的设局之下，翘翘暴露了自己，她趁着夜色打算挖出人头，被早就等着她的李秀一等人捉住。翘翘知道自己已经无路可走，便认了罪，承认自己是因为感情问题杀了康连城。但案件显然并没有随着翘翘的归案结束，当戴尔斯见到翘翘挖出的人头时，他发现这并不是康连城的人头。
