汤姆从秋燕那儿知道土匪就是坏蛋，他想从她那儿学习中国功夫，在他向秋燕表达爱意时被她爹撞上。丁奎知道石坂村的美国人时准备下山将他带上山，他们知道日本人和国军对美国人都很感兴趣。汤姆感觉到秋燕是美丽、勇敢的，他深深地喜欢上了她。丁奎到石板村后将汤姆带到了山寨，村长担心他们将美国人卖给日本人，上山后他知道土匪要五千大洋才放人。秋燕趁着夜色想去白水岭救汤姆，刚一出门就被他爹撞上，村里人打算一起上山救人。秋燕爹带着人去山上救美国人，从哨兵身上拿到钥匙后他们将汤姆从柴房中救出，但刚一出来就被丁奎发现，汤姆又被关了起来，村长对于他们绑人不理解。丁奎虽然是土匪，但他不想和老百姓为敌，警告过他们之后将村长等人放了回去。山寨军师告诉村长说他们是想拿汤姆和国军换钱的，汤姆没想到他们是一群绑匪。秋燕知道了她爹当年没能回来的见她妈的原因，她将老孙叔说的话说了出来，多年来她从内心里怪着她爹。杜清明对于王江义的安排不满意，佐藤想用中国人的办法来对付那两支小分队，他们打算在花溪谷放出消息来吸引他们前来营救。小野建议抓获一些村民来修建牢房，然后故意将关押美国人的消息放出去。跑出去的劳工将日本人关押美国军官的消息告诉了进村打听消息的新四军，国军在村里也打听到了日本人在花溪谷修牢房的事情。大平子将日本人在花溪谷修牢房的事情告诉了郑大勇，他带人去了花溪谷方向。
