巴特尔和陆天泽找到徐传龙，这个徐传龙正是陆天泽前一天见到的那个徐传龙。徐传龙为陆天泽重现了当年的情景。

闪回梅英在传送紧急情报的途中，因为长途奔波，她腹痛了。身边没有一个人，一座蒙古包，梅英自己把孩子生在草原上。她用自己的衣服包裹好孩子，把孩子揣在怀里，继续赶路。

孩子饿得哇哇哭。梅英看见一个蒙古包，她驱马奔过去。

蒙古包里没有人，梅英找出一碗酸马奶，喂了孩子。梅英不能带着孩子走，她把孩子寄存在蒙古包里。

梅英来到海拉齐的一所小医院，见到黄晚，她告诉黄晚党内出了叛徒，要黄晚立即转移。两个人还没来得及走，鬼子就包围了小医院，梅英为了掩护黄晚脱身，从正门冲出去，引开鬼子。

梅英打马在草原上飞奔。日本人也紧紧咬住梅英不放，双方形成胶着状态。

梅英的马跑累了。速度慢下来。她路过一个蒙古包，老牧民给她换了一匹马，她继续跑。

日本人开枪了，梅英中弹，掉下马，被捕。

敌人严刑拷打了梅英，要她供出地下交通线，梅英坚贞不屈，被吊死在拴马桩上。

徐传龙带着陆天泽和巴特尔找到这根拴马桩，它就在那群敖包的旁边。

徐传龙告诉陆天泽，梅英死后，他寻找过那个孩子，但由于牧民都是游动的，草原又太大，那个孩子再无消息。只听说那家牧民叫戈日宝根。

巴特尔在一边听得热血沸腾。

陆天泽意外的得知孩子还活着，就在草原上，他又惊又喜，他久久的站立在那根拴马桩前，他向梅英的在天之灵发誓，一定要找到那个孩子，以慰籍梅英的在天之灵。

根据徐传龙提供的线索，陆天泽又找到档案馆，经过一番周折，在档案里找出当年党组织对梅英事件的定性材料及相关证明材料。

陆志强发现父亲和巴特尔都不见了，担心父亲又被抓了，董大勇说出公社来人的事。陆志强为父亲担忧，要去找陆天泽，被乌云拦住。

陆志强在找父亲的途中遇到陆天泽和巴特尔。陆志强问父亲去哪儿了，陆天泽不说。陆志强又去问巴特尔，巴特尔也不说。陆志强担心巴特尔对父亲不利，和董大勇商讨解决的办法，商讨了半天也没想出好办法。

巴特尔回家询问父亲的祭日，提出要和额吉一起去祭奠父亲。图娅额吉告诉巴特尔，她已经和老巴图定下去乌云家提亲的日子。

警察来调查陆志强和旺才的关系了，陆志强在集训的第四天藏在大车店的事被揭发出来了。红队的人找到巴特尔，要讨一个说法，巴特尔也很恼火。

陆志强最担心的是被父亲知道自己说了谎。他主动向巴特尔检讨，请求巴特尔不要让父亲知道这件事。巴特尔把陆志强的检讨撕了。
