为了不给清洁堂招致无谓的麻烦，瞬华(刘蓓 饰)力排众议，决定对外宣称老更夫是饮酒过量致死并马上给他办理后事，堂里姐妹们虽有异议却只能听从堂主的安排。瞬华询问了朱张氏(梁建华 饰)一些关于老更夫的情况，发现她对老更夫的身世了如指掌，瞬华心里顿起疑窦。红军战士银锁(林毅杰 饰)得到消息，急忙向周行疆(王同辉 饰)报告，说白匪正在四处抓捕一个外国人，这使得周行疆更加肯定乌蒙托夫(山鹰 饰)就藏在这一带，情况十分危急，必须迅速找到他。老更夫被埋葬后，朱张氏一人偷偷地跑去给他烧纸，被瞬华派来的春丫(唐妍 饰)发现，朱张氏将春丫痛斥一番。这天，清洁堂门口来了几个地痞调戏堂里的姐妹，被扮成哑巴的周行疆给打得落花流水，目睹周行疆离去的背影，瞬华百感交集。当晚，春丫差点被潜入房内的土匪掳走，关键时刻她再次被银锁解救，惊魂未定的春丫更加确定银锁就是小木匠(林毅杰 饰)的化身。第二天，不甘心的土匪头目虎啸林(申军谊 饰)带着人马来到清洁堂欲强行带走春丫，他声称春丫娘(沈丹萍 饰)已经收下他的聘礼，如果瞬华不交出春丫他就对清洁堂不客气。无奈的瞬华找来了春丫娘，春丫娘得知情况后决定上山找虎啸林讨个说法。当晚，银锁再次潜入清洁堂向春丫求助，春丫偷出了药膏后又去厨房偷馒头，不料转身却不见了药膏。惊恐万分的春丫回房告知银锁此事，银锁感到势头不对急忙离去。春丫欲跟踪银锁，不料却被瞬华发现。天真的春丫告诉瞬华，是木匠哥哥来求她帮助的，于是瞬华将计就计，让春丫去跟踪来历不明的银锁。
