被关在家的麦子设计打晕了一名家丁，盗了秦坤的枪逃出家门，惊愕地在街头死尸堆发现了奄奄一息的刀锋。丧乱的众人齐聚于海边刀家祖屋中，刀锋醒来见到的却是惨遭杀害的刀纹龙与刀兵的遗体。萨家父子带人尾随而去，包围了刀家祖屋，放火烧屋，欲将屋中众人烧死。藏于水井中暗室的男女们以日军的尸体代替自己，烈火烧过，侥幸逃过一劫。仇恨烧红了每个人的眼睛，悲恸欲绝中，他们发誓要让萨家和日军血债血偿。这个昔日的富家少爷，领着这样一群家仆，在今后的日子里，行将鲜血洒遍琼崖大地，演绎一场气势磅礴的抗日传奇。萨氏父子带着尸体去找北野武藏邀赏。北野武藏看出了尸体的破绽，断定刀锋一行人仍逍遥于世。刀锋一众遭到通缉，大批日本鬼子在萨图团丁的带领下，四处搜寻刀锋下落。刀锋敌视叛国求荣的伪军，唾弃不抵抗政策的国民党，又不愿投奔一无所有的琼崖党委，一干人等在海塘已无立锥之地，境遇艰难。乔装进城寻找食物和药品的麦子和鸡饭仔求助于赶尸人，装成尸体才出了戒备森严的海塘城，萨瘸子惊觉不对，追踪而至。这时，走神婆神神叨叨地提出，城中某处有一座洋楼，闲置，僻静。因传言那里常有鬼魂出没，无人敢靠近。情势紧迫，刀锋当即决定趁夜转移至洋楼。众人反对，但苦于无其它良策，只好跟着刀锋转移。
